Momentive expanding plant, center in India

The state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2009, focuses on making high-end specialty silicones to serve its customers in India, the Middle East and South Asia.

Full details, including the size of the expansion and cost of the project, were not disclosed.

V.P. Nalian, managing director for Momentive Performance Materials India, did say that the expansion “will bring some of the most sophisticated technology and manufacturing processes that Momentive has developed worldwide to the Chennai facility and considerably enhance our ability to serve customers across the region.”

Momentive also plans to open a regional headquarters and global research and development center in Bangalore, India, later this year.
